My dad fought in the Korean War in the Army, and he did what he had to do for his country. He was 3 miles from the front and drove a tank. He left my mom behind, who was then his girlfriend. He didn't want to marry her to leave her as a widow. 

Today he is 89 years old, and he and my mom got married, had a family, and still live in their home. He is a tough old bird who still fights like a soldier, which keeps him going. He invents things to make everyday life chores more manageable for mom to do. 

Mom was never a soldier, but she would have been; she would have outfought them all. She can outwork any 50-year-old. She insists on doing all the yard work, helping dad, cooking, cleaning, and cleaning. She lets us help her when she has to. She still likes making family meals, including dessert.
